Centexs-Huawei ink MoU on talent supply

KUCHING: Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs) inked a memorandum of understanding(MoU) with Huawei Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to supply talent for digital infrastructure especially for the state’s digital economy.
Abang Johari admires the new technology from Huawei.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said for that purposes the state government has allocated RM18 million to kick-start the training programme offered by Centexs and Huawei. “I applaud the collaboration between Centexs and Huawei to assist in the transformation of the state economy towards digital economy,” he said when witnessing the signing of the MoU at Centexs’ premises in Jalan Sultan Tengah here yesterday. Earlier on, Abang Johari witnessed the signing ceremony between State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, who is also Centexs president, its director Syed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman representing Centexs, and Huawei Malaysia represented by its vice president Foo Fang Yong and Global Huawei technical service department vice president James Xu Chengxin. Abang Johari hoped the collaboration between Centexs and Huawei would produce a new technology to be called Cenhua Technology (Centexs-Huawei). “When we have the new technology, we can meet the needs of Asean and Asia markets. Also, through this collaboration, Huawei will have a laboratory outside China, in Sarawak, which we can name Sanhua lab (Sarawak-Huawei),” he added. He is confident that this collaboration would produce younger generation of Sarawakians who have the creativity and wish to become experts in the new technology field in tandem with Industry 4.0 revolution. “I hope in five years we will have a micro satellite that can provide a wide internet network for the state,” he said. Through this partnership, Centexs will be the first South East Asia Regional Certified Specialist Training Partner, not only for the locals but also for Asean. In order to train the youths, Huawei will implement specialist programme covering wireless, microwave, fibre, data centre, telecom energy hardware installation and also assist to set up a digital lab for high school graduates. These graduates will also have the opportunity to receive mobile application development training, after which they will be certified as Android Application Developer. “Congratulations to Centexs and Huawei for making this partnership a success… to  provide training for Sarawakian youths to fulfill the need of digital economy development in the state,” Abang Johari said.
