KUCHING: Last year, statistics showed that 130,000 people were caught abusing drugs and that 70,000 were caught trafficking drugs nationwide.
This was revealed by the Drug Prevention Education Bureau (PPDa) IPT and Drug Prevention Association of Malaysia (PEMADAM) Club chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin Haji Ninggal.
In his speech, Tajudin said that Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEXS) had created history by being the first institution of higher learning (IPT) in the state to establish a PEMADAM Club.
“This is part of CENTEXS’s intiatives to develop the human capital in the state towards a drug-free future.
“They will also be contributing towards citizens who are competent and able to contribute to the state’s development.
“We must always be attentive towards problems related to drugs as it is the enemy we must eliminate before it becomes worse and becomes difficult to curb,” he said.
Tajudin said this during the launching ceremony of the PEMADAM CENTEXS Club at CENTEXS, Jalan Sultan Tengah here yesterday.

When we have the new technology, we can meet the needs of ASEAN and ASIA markets. Also, through this collaboration, Huawei will have laboratory outside China, in Sarawak, which we can name ‘CENHUA Lab’ (CENTEXS-HUAWEI) “.
Allahyarham YBhg Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Haji Adenan bin Haji Satem

“We are very much aware of the importance of Technical Education in our quest for industrialisation. We don’t have enough people to man our industries because we have not been emphasising on technical education. Nevertheless, it is not too late for us to focus on technical and vocational education. So, we can meet the needs of thousands of technical hands in our industries.”
